JACKSON, Wyo. — Four jamband enthusiasts leaped the rail from fans to performing torchbearers to form Eggy as high school buddies in 2013. Through years of local residencies and persistent touring (115 shows in 2023), Eggy has gained the hard-to-earn attention from many of the genre’s most critical fans looking for their next fix. Eggy will lay down their carton of jam this Tuesday at the Virginian Lodge.
A Connecticut quartet, Eggy is known for improvisation-focused, Phish-y rock along with influences of R&B, indie, Americana and pop. Alex Bailey (drums, vocals), Mike Goodman (bass, vocals), Dani Battat (keys, vocals) and standout guitarist/vocalist Jake Brownstein released their sophomore record, “Waiting Game,” in 2024. It’s an apt title, with the LP arriving half a decade as a follow-up to the band’s first studio effort, “Watercolor Days.” These days, the latter time between studio time is not surprising. Why lose money cutting more albums when ascending to larger venues and climbing festival lineups is paying the bills and garnering a strong fanbase?
Eggy makes an unusual stop in Jackson on its “Here and How Tour” in between Minneapolis and Seattle as they transition to a West Coast run. Hopefully they can make it between storms.
