JACKSON HOLE, WYO – A gentle ‘bump’ woke the Nation down in Hoback this morning. The seismic event was felt by a few in the Hoback and Jackson area.

According to USGS, a 3.2-magnitude earthquake occurred at 6:17am south of Jackson, just west of Munger Mountain. For backcountry enthusiasts who are familiar with the area the quake’s epicenter (43.315°N 110.924°W) was between Coburn and South Fork Fall creeks toward the headwaters of both. It was actually on the Teton-Lincoln County border.

The event was fairly standard for the area in terms of magnitude, velocity and depth (3.8km). According to USGS “Did you feel it” responses, 11 people reported feeling the tremor.
