JACKSON HOLE, WYO – Dancers’ Workshop’s Junior Repertory Company (JRC) will be presenting their annual spring showcase New Dances/New Choreographers(ND/NC) on April 28 and 29 at Dancers’ Workshop. JRC is comprised of 14 talented students grades 6-12 who dance approximately 25 hours a week. They focus on modern, ballet, jazz, contemporary and hip hop, continuously working to refine their technique and artistry.

New Dances/New Choreographers is an all student-run production by the sophomores, juniors and seniors of DW’s pre-professional dance company, whose members have dedicated months of time and effort into its creation. The choreographers get hands-on experience in presenting a successful performance from scratch—an experience that provides our students an opportunity that most dancers receive only in college. The entire production—casting, costuming, lighting, music selection and editing through the finished choreography of original pieces to marketing of the performances all the way to putting on the performances themselves—is carried out by the students.

This year’s performance is titled Verve, meaning “the spirit and enthusiasm animating artistic composition or performance.” The choreographers were inspired to create dances full of vitality and energy; dances that speak to the infinite number of movement patterns and the endless creativity and vivacity of movement itself and inspiring the aforementioned theme. In addition to these original dances, the entire company will perform a piece featuring the work of choreographer Julia Eichten of L.A. Dance Project, who was in residency at Dancers’ Workshop this February.

The public has three chances to experience ND/NC. Friday, April 28, will be a special fundraising evening that includes drinks and appetizers at a Photography Gallery Reception beginning at 5:30pm, leading up to the 7 pm performance in Studio 1. Saturday, April 29, there will be a 4 pm and a 6 pm performance in Studio 1.
