DW kicks off 2018 Artist-in-Residence program with Aitor Basauri

JACKSON HOLE, WYO – Dancers’ Workshop announced today the arrival next month of Aitor Basauri to the 2018 Artist-in-Residence lineup.

Basauri is one of the most sought after and leading teachers of clown and physical comedy in the world. He will be the Artist-in-Residence at Dancers’ Workshop from February 5-12 and is the first guest Artist-in-Residence in the series of guest AIRs slated for 2018.

Basauri will be joined by performing artist Erin Roy, a former staff member of DW, for a creative residency that explores the art of humor in movement.

During this creative residency, Basauri will work with Contemporary Dance Wyoming and the pre-professional Junior Repertory Company at DW. He will also join Contemporary Dance Wyoming and Erin Roy in a free open rehearsal for the community on Friday, February 9 from 5:00-6:30pm, and teach a master class open to the public on Saturday, February 10 from 10am-12pm (minimum age 12 to participate).

Community members will witness the creative process and learn skills of physical comedy through movement and clowning as well as engage in dialogue with the artists.
