JACKSON, WY— Calling all active Jacksonites looking for inspiration this off-season! Expand your horizons by working with legendary choreographer and social justice leader Bill T. Jones. No experience in dance? No problem. Anyone 16 and older with a background in movement – from martial arts, skiing, sports and gymnastics to gardening, walking and horseback riding – is invited to join the artistic process.

Dancers’ Workshop needs at least 50 community members! Be guided through a series of improvisations and task-based instructions all designed to get you directly involved in creating the movement to be used in the community section of Jones’ latest work.

Why get involved in this performance project with your fellow community members? Jones has a way of pulling the most out of the people around him. Stepping outside your comfort zone can encourage opportunities for self-reflection and discovery and open reserves of unknown creativity. You can also look at this as a chance to connect with people you might not otherwise meet in your day-to-day. And what better context than within a work that examines the condition of loneliness and the need for community? Lean in to this amazing opportunity move, create and learn from one of the world’s most fearless artists.

Jones is the artistic director, co-founder and choreographer of Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Company and the recipient of numerous awards and honors including the 2010 Kennedy Center Honors. Jones is not afraid to explore difficult subject matter such as race, identity and terminal illness. His exceptional, thought-provoking choreographic works include D-Man in the Waters (1989), Last Supper at Uncle Tom’s Cabin/The Promised Land (1990), and the Analogy Trilogy (co-commissioned by Dancers’ Workshop).
