Dogs vs Beaver at Crater Lake Crater Lake Dog Buckrail - Jackson Hole, news
beaver vs dog encounter earlier this summer. The beaver had finally had enough after a summer of inquisitive canines.

JACKSON HOLE, WYO – A hike on Old Pass Road with the dogs almost always involves a dip in Crater Lake for both human and hound. Especially on hot summer days.

Friends of Pathways (FOP) is putting out a friendly warning to all dog owners, “Look before you let Fido leap.” Beavers have been observed recently in Crater Lake (which is a good thing) but they don’t care for dogs much and have been known to defend themselves with rather large teeth.

FOP has had reports already of a few negative interactions between dogs and beavers so keep an eye on your pets, education director Lauren Dickey says.

Any reports of beaver trouble should be passed along to FOP.

“Wildlife staff at Bridger-Teton NF are assessing the situation to see if further action needs to be taken, but let’s do our best to be respectful trail users and dog owners,” Dickey added.
