JACKSON, Wyo. — It’s finally time to celebrate a summer of dance as the community joyously welcomes dancers & audiences back to live performances.
Dancers’ Workshop (DW) has pioneered an outdoor summer venue on The Center Green for safely celebrating summer with a series of live performances, workshops, dance and movement classes, open rehearsals, youth summer camps and events. DW will also gather inside The Center Theater with limited seating. Performances of the summer include Contemporary Dance Wyoming, David Dorfman Dance and New York City Ballet MOVES.

For decades, Contemporary Dance Wyoming (CDW) has been DW’s creative pulse. The company, composed of professional dancers from across the country who wish to continue their dance careers while living amidst the Tetons, is integral to the cultural fabric of Jackson Hole. CDW will present a new evening-length work, Spaces Between Us, as we contemplate emerging from the solitude of our past year and a half.

This New York City-based company celebrates its first year as DW’s Resident Commissioned Artist. Lauded the world over as “full throttle, big-hearted” David Dorfman Dance (DDD) presents radically humanistic movement that hits at the heart of the human condition–the travails of identity, power, memory, loss, race and racism. Their July appearances will reinvigorate our belief in the human spirit and remind us of the transcendent power of dance.

July’s open rehearsal and performance mark the first of the world-famous ballet company’s return to the stage since going dark in March 2020. New York City Ballet MOVES (NYCB MOVES), the dynamic touring arm that showcases chamber works from the Company’s repertory, performs Wheeldon’s This Bitter Earth, Robbins’ In the Night (Chopin) and Ratmansky’s Pictures at an Exhibition (Mussorgsky). This visit to Jackson is sure to be an emotional reuniting and igniting of our memories from past years.
