JACKSON HOLE, WYO – The Teton County Sheriff’s Office is happy to report that James Paul Cunningham has been located. He is safe and sound.
Cunningham proactively contacted law enforcement upon learning there was an investigation underway to locate him. He is currently being interviewed by Sheriff’s Office personnel.
Coordination of information and cooperation between agencies was critical in resolving this investigation.
“The Sheriff’s Office is grateful for the quick work and collaboration with our partners, as well as the assistance from members of the public that provided helpful information throughout the course of this investigation,” said Teton County Undersheriff, Matt Carr.
A BOLO (Be On the Lookout) alert for a missing person was issued as local authorities including Wyoming Highway Patrol attempted to find a local Jackson man who had been missing for days.
Teton County Sheriff’s Office was alerted to and advised that James Paul Cunningham, 19, of Jackson told his mother he had broken down in the Hoback area on Sunday, May 27. He had planned on going camping then to work. His mother had not heard anything further from him.
Teton County Sheriff’s Investigators learned that the man did show up for work at a local hotel on Monday morning May 28. He had left for lunch around noon and did not return to work.
Cunningham was last seen just before 4pm on Monday, May 28 getting a ride out of the Flat Creek area towards Jackson in a full-size, black, crew-cab pickup truck with two white males who appeared to be in their 20s.
Deputies located Cunningham’s vehicle on Flat Creek Road while on an unrelated call, north of the National Elk Refuge, but there was no sign of the missing man.
