JACKSON, Wyo. — As the number of new daily cases of COVID begin to decline in Teton County, State Public Health Officer, Alexia Harrist, MD, PhD, has approved a request to extend the Teton District Public Health Order #20-6, requiring that all adults wear face coverings in public places in Teton County, including within the City of Jackson, through August 31.
Teton District Health Officer, Travis Riddell MD, MPH also extended Teton District Health Recommendation #9, encouraging early closure of restaurants and bars through August 31.
Dr. Riddell made the request for an extension of the face covering order to ensure local cases continue to decrease before schools reopen.
“Our metrics are heading in a good direction we want to continue encouraging all able individuals to wear masks while inside and while waiting in lines outside. By keeping these public health measures in place, we will hopefully continue to flatten the curve in Teton County,” Riddell said.
Earlier this week, Governor Mark Gordon also announced the extension of the current statewide public health orders starting August 16 through August 31, while also easing outdoor gathering limits.
The statewide Public Health Order #2 has been updated to allow outdoor gatherings of no more than 50% of a venue’s capacity, with a maximum of 1,000 people if physical distancing and increased sanitation measures are in place. Indoor gathering in a confined space remain the same with a limit of 50 people without restrictions and 250 people if physical distancing and sanitation measures are incorporated.
