Editor’s Note: Aug. 18: The headline was edited to reflect the groundbreaking project literally and figuratively rather than highlighting just Teton County’s involvement. The project is a public-private partnership involving Teton County, The Cummings Foundation, and The Community Foundation of Jackson Hole. The Jackson Town Council helped streamline the project, allowing projects within the Town that are 100% deed-restricted to skip the sketch and development plan. They approved the building permit.
JACKSON, Wyo. — Yesterday, Teton County officially kicked off the new Jackson Street Apartments housing project, estimated for completion in 2024.
“This will be groundbreaking for the 57 families that will get to occupy the housing that will be here, it will be groundbreaking for the generations that will come after them whose lives will be changed because they have safe, stable housing,” said Teton County Commissioner Natalia Macker.
“It will [also] be groundbreaking for our community to have people living and working here right in the heart of downtown.”
The Jackson Street Apartments housing project was unanimously approved by the Teton County Board of County Commissioners during its meeting on March 15. The Jackson Town Council approved the building permit.
The 57-unit 100% deed-restricted housing project will be located on 10 lots at 335 S. Glenwood, immediately south of the Snake River Brewpub. Of the 57 units, 84% will be affordable rentals and 16% will be workforce rentals.
This project is a partnership between the Cumming Foundation and Teton County. The Community Foundation of Jackson Hole joined the project June 21, 2022, serving as a conduit for Teton County’s land and financial investments through the creation of a Designated Fund and investment in the development’s multi-member limited liability company. Â
Once constructed, the Jackson/Teton County Housing Department will manage the development operations, including leasing the units and day-to-day operations.
A neighborhood meeting at the site has been scheduled for Thursday, Aug. 18, from 5:15 to 6:15 p.m., during which the construction team will be available to discuss the development with those interested.
