JACKSON, Wyo. — The Board of County Commissioners approved a new general geographic information system (GIS) platform to replace the longstanding Greenwood Mapping platform set to be taken offline June 30.

The new system, Dewberry GIS, will be responsible for orchestrating and implementing the new platform. County IT and departmental GIS leaders will provide context and support as needed to ensure a successful migration before the June 30 sunset date of Greenwood Mapping’s GIS platform.

In terms of cost, Dewberry says it will be $181,810, including 12 months of post-migration support.

Commissioner Mark Newcomb asked about ongoing costs once the transition is complete, citing that the current GIS system costs about $70,000 annually.

“From a software standpoint, it’s probably a 70 to 80 percent reduction in just general maintenance cost,” Keith Murley, Teton County’s IT manager said.

County Clerk Maureen Murphy said the funds can be sourced from the $25,000 currently in the GIS account and the rest will come from the county’s general fund.
