JACKSON, Wyo. — Community Safety Network (CSN) will begin its next advocacy training on Dec. 4. The virtual course will consist of six sessions.

CSN offers two trainings, Advocacy I and Advocacy II. Advocacy I, the session starting in December, will focus on the dynamics of abuse, the history of the domestic and sexual violence movement and the basics of supporting survivors. The program is free and open to all community members.

Adrian Croke, the Director of Education and Outreach at CSN, shared that the first series of sessions aims to be “the beginnings of how to support survivors both directly and in creating a community that does not tolerate violence.”

Advocacy I sessions will be held Dec. 4, 11 and 18 and Jan. 8, 15 and 22 from 5:30 to 8 p.m.

No volunteer commitment with CSN is required after taking the course. Those who want to move into direct support roles can continue with Advocacy II, which is scheduled to start in March or April. All volunteers interested in interacting with clients are required to complete the 40-hour training course.

Those interested in signing up can fill out a volunteer interest form here or can email abby@csnjh.org.
