ROCK SPRINGS, WYO – The Rock Springs Police Department is investigating a vehicle crash late last night involving the Sweetwater Youth Crisis Center. At approximately 10:56 p.m. Thursday night, RSPD were dispatched to the Crisis Center at 3801 Sweetwater Drive, responding to a call of a vehicle crashing into that building.
Upon arrival, officers found that two vehicles had crashed into the building. A maroon Nissan Armada had crashed through a residential fence nearby and subsequently crashed into a parked white truck in the parking lot of the Youth Crisis Center. The force of the SUV hitting the truck pushed both vehicles into the building.
Two juvenile occupants inside the building were transported to Memorial Hospital of Sweetwater County for evaluation of injuries. The driver of the SUV was transported to Salt Lake City, Utah for treatment of injuries.
Contributing factors and the cause of the crash are under investigation.
Also, Sweetwater authorities reported a safe St. Patrick’s Day weekend with zero fatalities. Local law enforcement did, however, arrest 10 drunk drivers during a 12-hour enforcement campaign. During this time period, cops made 84 traffic stops, issuing six speeding citations, four seatbelt citations, and 23 other citations. They issued 50 warnings, as well.
