CHEYENNE, Wyo. — The State Legislature will convene for its biennial budget session on Monday, Feb. 9. The 21-day session will kick off with Gov. Mark Gordon’s annual address to the governing body, the “State of the State” speech.

Coverage of the first day of the session along with Gordon’s remarks will begin at 10 a.m. on the Wyoming PBS TV station, YouTube channel and website. Following the “State of the State,” Wyoming Supreme Court Justice Lynne J. Boomgaarden will deliver the “State of the Judiciary.”

Since the goal of the budget session is to pass a final budget bill, legislators theoretically will have less time for other bills; unlike in the general sessions that happen in odd-numbered years, bills introduced during a budget session must achieve a two-thirds majority introductory vote to proceed. This session’s bills are available to peruse here.

The session is tentatively scheduled to wrap up on March 11.
