Broncs beat Evanston in final home game

JACKSON HOLE, WYO – An explosive second quarter helped the Jackson Broncs take a 28-14 lead into the half against the Evanston Red Devils. The Broncs hung on to down Evanston 35-28 in the final home game of the season.

Jackson came out guns-a-blazing in the first half, still smarting from last week’s debacle at the hands of Star Valley. If not for two interceptions—one returned for a touchdown—the Broncs could have really put the Devils in a bind.

But Evanston came roaring back in the second half as Jackson tried to eat clock with the ground gams and played it a bit conservative.

Jackson needed a strong defensive stand late in the game as the Devils began their final drive at the Broncs’ 41yard line with 5 minutes to play. Jackson forced Evanston to turn the ball over on downs and ran out the clock for the 7-point victory.

The win guarantees the Broncs a playoff bid. Jackson (6-2, 3-1) travels to Powell next week for the final game of the regular season against the Panthers (2-5, 0-3).
