STAR VALLEY, WYO – USA Today released its annual All-USA Wyoming football team and Buckrail is beaming with pride (maybe not as much as Ted) at the selection of Josh Dawson as Defensive Player of the Year.

Dawson anchored the stingy Star Valley defense that allowed barely more than a touchdown a game (7.7 points). The 6-1, 215-lb linebacker led the Braves with 76 recorded tackles (11 for a loss), 6 pass breakups, and 2 interceptions. On offense, Dawson also rushed for 1,216 yards and 20 touchdowns, leading the Braves to their 10-1 record in 2017.
Other selections from the western half of the state included WR Jake Pape (6-1, 165, Sr.) from the Big Piney Punchers, OL Hunter Cranney (6-3, 265, Sr.) from the Star Valley Braves, and DL Ian Crawford (5-11, 165, Sr.) from the Cody Broncs.
Second team standouts included WR Jared Grenz (5-9, 170, Jr.) from Cody Broncs and DL Max Gallagher (6-2, 265, Sr.) from the Powell Panthers.
