JACKSON, Wyo. — The Headwaters District Boy Scouts will be auctioning antlers this year via an online auction platform starting Wednesday, September 9, and ending Saturday, September 19.

Typically, scouts hold a live auction at the much anticipated Elkfest held annually on Jackson’s Town Square in May. However, due to COVID-19 health concerns, the live event was cancelled.

Up for bid are: 19 pallets of antlers, three of which are matched pairs, 1 white “barn art” skull, 3 skull caps, 3 individual matched pairs, 4 beetle cleaned skulls, 1 trailer of brown broken antlers and 1 trailer of white antlers. Descriptions, weights and photos are included on each item’s page for potential buyers to review.

Anyone interested in participating will need to register for free online here. Several bidding options are available: standard bidding, “Auto Bidding” and “Bid Wars”. “Auto Bidding” allows participants to select a maximum bid and the system will bid automatically until that limit is reached. If an item receives a bid in the final moments of the auction, that item will be entered into a “Bid War” which extends the time limit. Competition for that item will end once no bids have been placed for ten minutes. Lots will have staggered closing times allowing bidders a chance to enter multiple Bid Wars.

Proceeds from the scout antler auction benefit the Headwaters District Boy Scouts and the National Elk Refuge.
