SUBLETTE COUNTY, WYO – UPDATE: The Boulder Lake Fire is now 100% contained.
Firefighters on the Boulder Lake Fire continue to shore up containment lines and interior mop-up of hotspots. The fire is now 95% contained and transitioned to a local Type 5 Incident Team at the end of the day Sunday.
Crews have extinguished all hot spots 200 feet in from the fire perimeter. Some smoke is still visible in a stand of aspen on the south-facing slope above Boulder Lake. This patch of fuel is surrounded by black and poses no threat to containment lines. Firefighters are monitoring this activity.
One Type 6 engine and a helitack crew are currently assigned to the fire. The two Type 6 engines from the Medicine Bow-Routt National Forest have been released to respond to another fire. The Type 3 helicopter has been released from the fire but is being staged at the Pinedale Airport and is available if needed for the Boulder Lake Fire or initial attack on a new fire.
A Burned Area Response Team (BAER) will arrive on the fire today to identify and manage potential risks to resources and reduce these threats through appropriate emergency measures to protect human life and safety, property, and critical natural or cultural resources. BAER is an emergency program for stabilization work that involves time-critical activities to be completed before the first damaging event such as a heavy rain induced mudslide.
