PINEDALE, Wyo. — In an effort to increase public land accessibility in the area surrounding Pinedale, the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) is holding a 30-day public comment period on the environmental assessment for the proposed Miller Mountain land exchange.

The public comment period is now open until June 11.

According to the BLM, if the exchange is approved, the agency would transfer about 1,802 acres of federal land currently only accessible by private lands to Fort Hill, LLC, in exchange for 2,275 acres of private land that offer key public access points and significant conservation value.

“The exchange would improve public land management efficiency and provide guaranteed access to lands currently surrounded by private property,” the BLM wrote in the announcement.

During the comment period, BLM seeks to gather feedback on potential impacts, benefits and considerations associated with the exchange. The environmental assessment, maps and additional details are available at the BLM National NEPA Register. Written comments can be submitted via the “Participate Now” option (preferred). Comments can also be delivered to Attn: Miller Mtn. Land Exchange, BLM Pinedale Field Office, P.O. Box 768, Pinedale, WY 82941.
