JACKSON, Wyo. — On Friday, Jan. 10, the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) issued a decision and Finding of No Significant Impact resulting from the court-ordered additional analysis of 81 parcels sold during the June 2022 oil and gas lease sale in Wyoming.
The original lease sale offered 122 parcels totaling about 119,565 acres, with 81 parcels sold for a total of $13,021,696. In March 2024, U.S. District Court Judge Christopher R. Cooper sided with conservation groups regarding two separate lawsuits challenging the BLM sales and requiring the BLM to draft an updated environmental analysis.
In November 2024, the BLM then sought public comment on its supplemental analysis for the Environmental Assessment over a 30-day period.
According to a press release, the Finding of No Significant Impact now enables the BLM to proceed with issuing the leases.
The decision affirming the sale and other planning documents are available at the BLM National NEPA Register.
