TETON VALLEY, Idaho — A Teton Valley man was attacked by a black bear outside of his Henderson Canyon home on Monday, July 31, Idaho Fish and Game has announced.

The sow black bear, with a cub nearby, injured the man as he opened his garage door. Teton County Sheriff’s Office and Idaho Fish and Game representatives responded to the incident and “lethally removed” the bears “in the interest of public safety,” according to the Fish and Game press release.

The Teton County Sheriff’s Office posted twice about black bear sightings near Henderson Canyon on Monday afternoon, advising residents to stay inside.
