CASPER, Wyo. (AP) – A Big Piney man and owner of a popular organic farm has been sentenced to federal prison for a pot produce side venture and money laundering.
KTWO-AM reports court records say Stewart Doty, of Big Piney, pleaded guilty to growing between 88 and 132 pounds (about 40 to 60 kilograms) of marijuana and setting up bank accounts to conceal the proceeds of his business known as Wyoming Tomatoes, LLC, or Wyomatoes.
Doty was sentenced last Friday in federal court in Casper to a one-and-a-half-year prison term for growing and distributing marijuana. A count of money laundering conspiracy was dismissed as part of the plea deal.
Besides incarceration, $500 in community restitution, and three years’ supervised probation, Doty must forfeit $63,117 law enforcement agents seized when they searched his property.
Doty has remained free on bond. He is scheduled to surrender to his prison term on March 25.
