COOKE CITY, Mont. — The Beartooth Highway (US-212), located east of Yellowstone National Park’s Northeast Entrance between Red Lodge, Montana, and Cooke City, Montana, opens Friday, May 26, at 8 a.m.
According to the Montana Department of Transportation, crews on the Beartooth Highway are currently fixing guardrail in anticipation of the expected opening.

Drivers should be aware that unpredictable weather conditions at high elevations on the highway may cause temporary closures throughout the summer, and should watch for quickly changing weather. Plan to have alternate routes for travel.
Check the Montana and Wyoming departments of transportation websites for road updates and status throughout the summer.
