JACKSON, Wyo.—A funding initiative is now underway to improve a new home for ArtSpot, a public canvas for artistic expression curated by Jackson Hole Public Art.
The Kickstarter campaign hopes to raise $10,000 dollars, monies to be purposed toward construction costs of a new, donated site that would keep the creativity hotbed available to area artists.
The new site comes thanks to a generous donation by the Karns Family. However, the Kickstarter campaign is needed to help fund a newly-engineered concrete foundation on the site as well as excavation, maintenance, and stipends for new artwork.
ArtSpot installations inspire moments of discovery while employing re-purposed materials to create works that celebrate the ethos of the community. And to receive an ArtSpot commission propels local artists beyond their home studios and into the public spotlight. JH Public Art provides artists with technical support for design, fabrication, installation, and marketing to help them build strong public art resumes.
Renowned among artistic talents near and far, ArtSpot has hosted memorable installations including Charlie Brown’s Sweater by Suzanne Morlock, colorful glass tiles by John Frechette, gunpowder drawings by Danny Shervin, ravens, rocking boats on waves, and much more.
