Three-car pileup stalls traffic on Highway 22 this morning

JACKSON, Wyo.— UPDATE: Traffic is moving again after a three-car accident blocked a lane of traffic early this morning.

A deer on the Wilson Bridge on Highway 22 caused quite the commotion and a three-car pileup. Two west-bound cars stopped just before the bridge to avoid hitting the animal. A third car, a pickup truck, did not and rammed into the first two, said Wyoming Highway Patrol Lieutenant Matt Brackin.

The drivers of the first two cars are OK, Brackin said. Trooper Adam Johnson said neither the driver nor the passenger of the pickup were wearing seatbelts. Both were transported to St. John’s Medical Center with injuries.

The driver of the pickup was cited for not wearing a seatbelt and careless driving.

Johnson said this is an important reminder to always wear a seatbelt and pay attention on the road.

The deer escaped without injury.
