JACKSON, Wyo. — Beginning this week, Bruce Abel will take the helm as START’s permanent transit director.

Abel has served as the Interim START Transit Director since October 2021 following Darren Brugmann’s retirement from the role.

Abel holds a Bachelor of Arts from Wake Forest University and an MBA from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. Abel boasts over 45 years of experience as a director and manager in the transit industry including nearly two decades of work with the Denver Regional Transportation District.

The role of START’s transit director is to provide professional oversight of all transit functions of the Town of Jackson and Teton County. Abel will work under general policy direction of the Town Manager and will work closely with the START Board. To read more about Abel’s role click here.
