JACKSON, Wyo. — The Jackson Town Council granted a 58 stay for the issuance of the demolition permit for the properties at 165 N. Glenwood and 157 N. Glenwood, properties known as the Nurse’s Quarters. The Council previously continued the item from the Sept. 21 Town Council meeting.

The 58-day stay will allow Shacks on Racks, a local organization that relocates structures facing demolition until Dec. 1 to find new locations for the two structures. The developer of the property, Bear Development LLC, communicated that the site must be cleared by Dec. 15. Luxury apartments, already underway at the adjacent property will be erected on the site.

During the meeting, Vice Mayor Arne Jorgensen allowed public comment on the item. Community member Dwayne Meadows shared that he and his wife are interested in the structure on 165 N. Glenwood but are still working out the details to have it moved to their property on the Westbank.

“We’ve spoken with Esther about it. We would really like to take 165 Glenwood structure, so I’m the willing taker, that being said, we need time to talk to the county and the bank,” Meadows said.

Esther Lennox Judge founder of Shacks on Racks, also spoke during the meeting and shared that she was excited and optimistic about saving and moving both structures. “it is totally possible,” she said.

The Council unanimously agreed that a 58-day stay would be the appropriate amount of time to balance the interests of the developer and their willingness to work to relocate the structures. If the structures are removed prior to Dec. 1, the developer can begin demolition.
