WYOMING — Those looking for a fully immersive driving experience across Wyoming’s high plains or mountain passes should take a chance on the 2022 Wyoming Road Trip Playlist, which highlights independent musicians in the Cowboy State.

You just can’t get much more eclectic than the twenty-one songs featured here. From Tribe Called Quest downbeat hip-hop vibes to Dick Dale instrumental surf rock, folksy singer-songwriter, electronic, barroom country, and straight up rock n’ roll, there’s a little bit for all listeners and a chance to discover what your neighbors are creating.

Featured Jackson artists include Missy Jo’s cover of Ray Wylie Hubbard’s “Snake Farm,” Benyaro’s “That’s the Way Things Seem to Go,” Andrew Munz’s “Homecoming Queen,” and Aaron Davis & the Mystery Machine’s “The Great Ones.” Listen to the playlist on Spotify.

The 2022 Playlist is an annual part of the Wyoming Arts Council’s Wyoming Independent Music Initiative (WIMI), working to build a robust music scene in Wyoming. It was curated by Kendall Smith—the Director of Programming for The Arts Campus at Willits (TACAW), a perfiorming arts center in Basalt, CO. It will be promoted at high tourism areas across the state such as at State Parks, Historic Sites and Trails, Wyoming visitor centers, museums, and festivals. Artists were required to apply for consideration.
