UPDATE, 8:30 a.m.: An additional WYDOT alert at 8:30 a.m. stated that the Pass had reopened to traffic.

WILSON, Wyo. — As of 7:26 a.m., a vehicle fire on WY22 just west of the Teton Pass summit at milepost 11.5 has closed the Pass to through traffic, according to WYDOT mobile notifications.

The web camera at Glory Peak is also currently unavailable.

As of 7:57 a.m., there is no estimated reopening time.

According to Jackson Hole Fire/EMS Battalion Chief Brian Carr, a driver traveling from Jackson to Teton County, Idaho, noticed their vehicle’s engine was overheating and pulled over. Soon the car was engulfed in flames. Carr said he was concerned about the fire spreading to the hillside, but quick action by Engines 61 and 21 controlled the blaze and controlled any potential spread.
