YELLOWSTONE NATIONAL PARK — Recreation visits to Yellowstone National Park (YNP) are at a record six-year high for the year to date, according to new statistics released by the park.
So far this year, YNP has hosted a total of 1,633,739 recreation visits, compared to 1,492,843 visits at this time last year.
The park also reported a rise in visitation for June, which saw 914,612 recreation visits this year, up 8% from June 2023, which had 847,864 visits.
Here are the year-to-date recreation visit totals for this time over the past six years:
- 2024 – 1,633,739
- 2023 – 1,492,843
- 2022 – 1,258,834 (The park was closed June 13 through June 21 of this year due to the historic flood event. Three entrances opened on June 22.)
- 2021 – 1,587,998
- 2020 – 719,054 (The park was closed March 24 through May 17 of this year due to COVID. Two entrances opened on May 18 and the remaining three opened on June 1.)
- 2019 – 1,358,629
