JACKSON, Wyo. — Check out those moves!
Buckrail photographer Nick Sulzer encountered a pair of sandhill cranes leaping about in an open pasture this week.
These cranes are known for their height (usually about 1 meter), their wingspan (up to 2 meters) and their “graceful mating dance,” according to the National Park Service. Male cranes will stretch their wings, leap and bow to attract a female’s attention during mating season. If the female is impressed, the two will mate, generally forming a life-long bond.
