WILSON, Wyo. — Last week, Buckrail reader Patti McGuire caught security camera footage of a family of mountain lions perusing her driveway in the early-morning hours.

The mom and three cubs were seen meandering through the area near Elliot Cemetery in Wilson.

According to the Wyoming Game and Fish Department (WGFD), mountain lions are the most elusive of the large carnivore species in Wyoming. They are found statewide but rarely seen.

WGFD recommends bringing pets indoors at night and feeding pets indoors, as food smells can attract mountain lions and their prey. WGFD advises that all mountain lion sightings should be reported to WGFD or the non-emergency police department phone number.

Buckrail photographer Nick Sulzer came across this mountain lion a couple weeks ago. Check out this story for tips on recreating safely in mountain lion territory.
