WYOMING — On Tuesday, May 7, the Wyoming Department of Transportation (WYDOT) issued a scam alert, warning that callers are posing as the agency’s employees in order to access personal information.

“We’ve been hearing reports of a scam where Wyoming citizens are receiving phone calls from someone claiming to be with the DOT,” WYDOT said via social media. “Individuals are asked to provide personal information because their driver license has been suspended.”

WYDOT advises people to never give out personal information over the phone, unless they have called the agency first.

According to WYDOT, all communications from their staff regarding suspensions will come in writing. WYDOT will not call unprompted to ask for personal information.

Contact WYDOT drivers services at 307-777-4800 with any questions.
