JACKSON, Wyo. — Turns out winter is not over.

The National Weather Service (NWS) issued a winter storm watch for the Teton and Gros Ventre ranges, in effect from Wednesday evening until Saturday afternoon.

“Heavy snow possible,” the missive reads. “Total snow accumulations of 1 to 2 feet with localized areas along the highest peaks possibly seeing amounts nearing 3 feet. Elevations around or below 7,500 feet likely see lesser amounts of 1 to 4 inches. Winds could gust as high as 60 mph at times.”

Down in the valley, snow accumulations are forecast to be scant, but precipitation is possible every day through Sunday, per the weather service. Chances of rain increase later this week.

“Warm temperatures during the day will likely lead to a transition over to rain, mainly across elevations below 7,500 feet with a return to snow by nightfall,” the storm watch reads.

Driving over Teton Pass could be challenging in hazardous freeze/thaw conditions. Be careful out there, folks.
