JACKSON, Wyo. — In an effort to increase water supply in Jackson, Town Council unanimously approved funding to construct the West Jackson Water Transmission Project on Monday, Oct. 7.

The approximately 3,500 feet of pipeline will transmit water from three well locations in southwest Jackson to the site of a future well house with controls and treatment on the Porter Ranch, situated in Northern South Park.

The estimated cost of design, survey and construction is $2.2 million, according to the Town. The project will be funded with a combination of FY2025 Water Capital Funds and an awarded American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) grant of $1.5 million.

“This project supports the Town Comprehensive Plan and helps to fulfill the goal of providing and maintaining municipal services necessary to support the residential, business, environmental and historical interests that define our community,” Town of Jackson Public Works Department said in the staff report.

According to Town, the waterline project will involve construction during the winter months. A major component of the project will involve trenching through Rangeview Park from Well 9 at the north through High School Road to the south. The park and pathway will remain open during construction, but some full closures could be necessary.

The construction work will also impact an area south of High School Road on the Porter Ranch. Town staff says that they will coordinate with the contractor to minimize disruption and notify the neighbors of the work’s progress.

The Public Works’ project is anticipated to be completed by June 2025.
