JACKSON, Wyo. — Dreaming of owning a home in Teton County? Now is the time to start preparing. Spring registration is open for Teton Habitat’s new homeownership readiness program.

For those willing to learn and work toward long-term stability, Teton Habitat is offering a new path to homeownership. The Homeownership Readiness Program empowers individuals and families to build a foundation for success, creating opportunities for themselves – and for the community – for years to come.

The program covers critical topics including budgeting, credit improvement, mortgage readiness, deed-restricted homes, and submitting a strong homeownership application. Each session is offered independently in English and Spanish, with small class sizes to ensure personalized guidance and meaningful engagement.

“This program is about preparation and stability,” said Sonia Diaz, Teton Habitat’s Homeowner Services Director. “Homeownership is a long-term commitment, and education is a critical step in helping families succeed not just today, but for years to come.”

“This program reflects the same level of responsibility and preparation that we expect throughout the homeownership process, helping participants understand what it truly takes to be ready,” added Jason Bruni, Teton Habitat’s Development Manager.

Participants pay a $40 registration fee and receive a $25 grocery card upon completion, with scholarships available. Workshops are held at St. John’s Church in Jackson, and spots are limited, so early registration is encouraged.

“Housing knowledge is essential for long-term success,” explained Ben Johnson, Teton Habitat’s new CEO. “When people are equipped with the tools to succeed as homeowners, it strengthens families, supports our workforce, and builds long-term resilience across the region.”

Teton Habitat is also grateful for the support of community partners like Jackson’s new Tanager Bank, the sponsor of the financial sessions. Tanager Bank, opening later this year, is a new locally formed community bank, bringing technology and truly high touch service to Teton County.

For many in Jackson, owning a home may seem out of reach, but with the right guidance, preparation, and determination, it is possible. Teton Habitat’s program is designed for those ready to learn, plan, and take action to make their homeownership dreams a reality.

Teton Habitat will also offer the Homeownership Readiness Program again in the fall of 2026, with dates to be later.
