WILSON, Wyo. — Heads up, commuters. Driving Teton Pass and Togwotee Pass is about to get Western.
The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a winter weather advisory for the Teton and Gros Ventre mountain ranges, in effect from 5 p.m. Tuesday until 5 p.m. Wednesday.
NWS is calling for “total snow accumulations of 6 to 12 inches across the Teton Mountains, including Teton Pass, and the southern portions of the Gros Ventre Mountains. The highest peaks could see up to 15 inches of snow. Snow accumulations of 4 to 5 inches across Togwotee Pass.” The heaviest snowfall is expected between 5 a.m. and 5 p.m. on Wednesday, when rates could reach a half-inch per hour if not 1 inch per hour.
New snow could make travel “very difficult” for the Tuesday evening and Wednesday commutes, per NWS, with hazardous conditions expected on the mountain passes. Be sure to slow down and drive cautiously.
