JACKSON, Wyo. — The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a red flag fire warning for northwest Wyoming, including Teton County, on Saturday, Aug. 24.
The warning will be in effect from 12 to 9 p.m. in Teton, Sublette, Lincoln, Fremont and Park Counties.
“The combination of dry fuels, gusty southwest winds and low relative humidity values will lead to critical fire weather conditions,” NWS cautioned.
Winds are expected to reach 20 to 35 mph with gusts up to 40 to 50 mph or higher. Relative humidity is predicted to be in the 10% to 15% range.
NWS discourages residents and visitors from lighting outdoor fires of any kind in these conditions.
