JACKSON, Wyo. \u2014 With fall upon us, two recent reports shed light on tourism trends, and what this September may look like. A\u00a0 recent occupancy straw poll conducted on Sept. 1 found average occupancies were at 93.2% for the weekend of Aug. 28, slightly below the week prior was at 94% occupancy. The forecast is 95.1%\u00a0 for the weekend of Sept. 4 and 83.7% and 77.5% Sept. 11 and Sept. 18 respectively.\u00a0\u00a0 The poll was conducted by The Jackson Hole Travel & Tourism Board in partnership with The Jackson Hole Chamber of Commerce. The occupancy straw poll reflects data on occupancy levels in the town of Jackson only, for Friday and Saturday nights from the same ten in-town lodging properties. The report projects occupancy levels for three weeks out. It does not include the National Parks or Teton Village.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The Jackson Hole Airport also released airline activity reports for August 2020. The reports show that overall enplanements for the month of August were down 37% compared to August 2019, at 40,963 compared to 65,366. Aircraft landings were down 28% thus far this year compared to 2019.\u00a0 \u201cIt\u2019s just a reminder that airport traffic is much lower in the summer with visitors using the highway systems, these are relatively good numbers compared to other airports reporting 70% drops in activity.\u201d said Jim Elwood, Jackson Hole Airport Executive Director.\u00a0 The Jackson Hole Airport will hold a board meeting Sept. 16 at 7 a.m with a special meeting following at 8 a.m. The meeting can be viewed through Webex online.
