JACKSON HOLE, WYO \u2013 In response to numerous inquiries from local businesses about the increased and unpredictable presence of Federal Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents, One22 will host an educational forum designed to review employers\u2019 rights and responsibilities related to employment eligibility documentation of their workforce. The event will be held on Wednesday, May 16, at 9am at St. John\u2019s Episcopal Church.\r\n\r\nPaula Fleck, a partner at the law firm of Holland & Hart LLP who practices labor and employment law, will deliver a presentation at 9:00 am, followed by an open question and answer session and networking opportunities.\r\n\r\n\u201cAs the season picks up speed, we anticipate this summer\u2019s labor market will be extremely tight with employers doing everything they can to recruit, hire, train and retain their staff so that 2018 is characterized by the high level of customer service and expertise that Jackson Hole is famous for,\u201d said Sharel Lund Love, executive director of One22. \u201cThe growing presence of ICE in our community has many employers on edge about how they can protect their staff, their business, and their customers. The current environment has many business owners very concerned about the well-being of their trusted staff members.\u201d\r\n\r\nOne22 program director Carey Stanley sees the need for another community forum as his office fields calls from concerned employers on a daily basis asking what they can do and what are their rights.\r\n\r\n\u201cThis forum is designed to inform businesses of their rights and obligations, and associated risks of noncompliance,\u201d Stanley said. \u201cWith a clear understanding of the rules, employers can make informed choices about the best ways to face this changing environment.
