JACKSON, Wyo. — Teton County will begin implementing spring weight restrictions on Thursday for County-maintained roads in order to reduce damage from warm temperatures and snowmelt.
On Thursday, March 12, the weight limit will be lowered from 60,000 pounds gross vehicle weight to 40,000 pounds, until further notice. Under Teton County resolutions and state statutes, the Road and Levee Supervisor is allowed to restrict travel and reduce the maximum weights and types of vehicles on roads and bridges if continued operation would cause undue damage.
“Emergency vehicles and critical services, such as propane delivery and refuse collection, are exempt from this order,” Teton County wrote in the travel restriction order.
Teton County Road & Levee told Buckrail that County roads include Fall Creek Road, Fish Creek Road, West Street, Main Street and the first stretch of HHR Ranch Road in Wilson. The two entrance roads to Teton Village from WY390 — Teton Village Road and Apres Vous Road — are included in the restrictions. Spring Gulch Road, South Park Loop Road, Swinging Bridge Road, Elk Ave. and Deer Drive are also County-maintained roads, as well as Buffalo Valley Road in Moran and Ski Hill Road in Alta. This is not an exhaustive list.
