JACKSON, Wyo. — Interested in searching for treasures in the wilderness?
The annual antler shed hunt doesn’t take place until May 1, but it’s not too early to register for the motorcade and start planning. The motorcade gives participants first access to the public land bordering the National Elk Refuge at 6 a.m. on the first day of May.
Registration for the motorcade is now open and will close on April 15 at 5 p.m. Participants will line up for the motorcade beginning at 8 a.m. on April 30 at the Teton County Fairgrounds. The motorcade will depart at 5:40 a.m. on May 1.
According to the Town of Jackson (TOJ), vehicle placement in the motorcade will be determined by a random draw after the registration window closes. Applicants will receive an email between April 16 and 29 telling them their position in the lineup and the timeframe in which they should arrive.
The opening week of antler shed hunting and the motorcade are open only to Wyoming residents, per TOJ. A nonrefundable $20 reservation fee is due upon registering for the motorcade. The antler shed hunt rules state that any vehicles in the lineup transporting nonresidents will be removed.
