JACKSON, Wyo. — Teton County/Jackson Parks and Recreation (Parks and Rec) is seeking input from the public to help shape the future of the community’s urban forestry.
According to a Parks and Rec press release, Parks and Rec is working with the Town of Jackson to update the Urban Forest Management Plan to sustain a healthy urban forest and acts as a guide as the Town works with tree care professionals to manage the community’s trees.
Managing, maintaining and preserving trees in public places plays an important role in the community’s water quality, air quality, urban temperatures, erosion control, wildlife habitat, property values and much more.
The Town and County’s Parks Department oversees the urban forest and currently tracks nearly 5,500 trees within Town limits. To ensure that the updated plan considers and incorporates resident priorities, the public is encouraged to provide feedback through an online survey at Teton County’s public engagements site. The survey is available in Spanish and in English.
The survey is currently open to the public and will close on Thursday, June 15.
