WILSON, Wyo. — Teton Pass commuters might spy smoke emanating from the Phillips Ridge area this week as Bridger-Teton National Forest (BTNF) conducts pile burns.

The prescribed burns will target 20 slash piles that are part of a 146-acre fuel reduction project as weather and fuel conditions allow, BTNF shared. According to an alert from the Wyoming Department of Transportation, smoke might be visible from WY22 near milepost 9.5 from Monday through Wednesday.

“As conditions permit, this operation will continue on a weekly basis,” BTNF posted to social media. “Smoke may be visible from Teton Pass, and motorists may see open flames and smoke during operations. Please do not report.”

Other ranger districts will likely see smoke this week, too. Pile burns are planned along Cedar Creek Trail near Star Valley Ranch, as well as in Kelley Creek and Allen Creek. Those in the Greys River and Kemmerer ranger districts might see that smoke. No closures are planned.
