JACKSON, Wyo. — The traditional Torchlight Parades at Jackson Hole Mountain Resort, Snow King, and Grand Targhee will go down this New Year’s Eve.
Last winter, some changes were made to the New Year’s Eve events due to COVID-19. This year, things are seemingly back to “normal” with Torchlight parades and firework displays.
Jackson Hole Mountain Resort will hold a “glowworm parade” for kids off of the Sweetwater Gondola. Glow sticks replace torch lights with the parade kicking off at 5:30 p.m. Participating kids will load the gondola from 4:45-5:15 p.m. and finish at the Kid’s Ranch. JHMR asks kids to come ready to ski but leave their poles at home so their hands are free to hold the glow sticks. Sign-up is not required.
The Torchlight Parade will begin right after the glowworm parade at about 6:15 p.m. with fireworks immediately following.
Snow King Mountain Resort will also hold a Torchlight Parade at 7 p.m. with fireworks expected to last until 9 p.m.
At Grand Targhee Resort, New Year’s Eve festivities will also include a children’s glow stick parade. Kids ages 5-12 are invited to register anytime before 4:15 p.m. on Dec. 31 at the ski school office. The kid’s parade will begin at 5 p.m. with loading at the Shoshone lift at 4:30 p.m.
The adult Torchlight Parade begins at 5:40 p.m. Adults can register at the ski school office as well, prior to 4:45 p.m on Dec. 31. Both parades are capped at 100 participants. Fireworks will go off following the adult parade.
