JACKSON, Wyo. — Jackson Hole Public Art announced on Monday, June 9, that new murals will be revealed on Jackson’s downtown streets as part of its annual WildWalls event.
WildWalls will debut eight temporary murals, three new murals at river kiosks and two permanent murals. A WildWalls kick-off celebration will take place on Wednesday, June 18, at the Center for the Arts from 4 to 6 p.m.
According to JH Public Art, blank alley walls are transformed into an open-air gallery from May through September, in a “highly visual, interactive and educational event without the confines of a traditional venue, making it accessible to thousands of people daily.”
This year, local artists and the art and science communities joined forces to raise awareness about the region’s ecological issues, JH Public Art wrote via press release.
Susan Grinels’ artwork can be seen at three Snake River access points: Astoria, South Park and Wilson. These educational river kiosks highlight the importance of river safety, Wild and Scenic rivers and riparian public lands.

Temporary, wheatpaste murals will feature the work of Olivia Ewing, Gabriel Lopez, Melissa Malm, James Overstreet, Miranda Raposa, Jocelyn Slack and Kay Stratman. These murals call attention to the work of The Nature Conservancy, Trout Unlimited, Wyoming Outdoor Council, The Raptor Center, Protect Our Water JH and Teton County Weed & Pest.
This year’s featured mural, Wild Journeys, is a two-wall permanent design by Helen Seay located at 120 W. Broadway Ave. Artist Matt Sunderman, of Boise, Idaho was selected for this year’s large-scale, permanent mural in Gaslight Alley, and he will paint one of the alley’s walls this summer.
“I enjoy opportunities to develop and conceptualize projects with clients to help them realize their vision for a particular space,” Sunderman said in the announcement. “I like to mix it up! I’m adroit at working in different genres and exploring a variety of subject matter.”
Maps of mural locations will be available here, and around town throughout the summer.
