JACKSON, Wyo. — Teton County Emergency Management shared a drinking water order for the Melody Ranch and Sage Meadows subdivisions on Thursday, May 29, following a water main rupture on Wednesday night.
“Do not drink the water without boiling it first, or use bottled water until notified that the drinking water warning has been lifted,” the agency posted to Facebook. “Inadequately treated water may contain disease-causing organisms. Boiling kills bacteria and other organisms in the water.”
According to the order, a water transmission line in Melody Ranch was ruptured on Wednesday by a directional drilling contractor working for Lower Valley Energy. Ridgeline Excavation worked through the night to repair the situation.
Melody Ranch residents should bring all water to a rolling boil for at least three minutes before using it, or else use bottled water. Boiled or bottled water should be used for drinking, making ice, brushing teeth, washing dishes and food preparation until further notice, according to the order.
