Wind River Outdoor Company is pleased to introduce our newest addition to our archery lineup: Mathews Archery. This year, Mathews is celebrating their 25th anniversary. Since their inception in 1992 they have developed their brand to be synonymous with quality, innovation, and value to those who shoot their bows and the archery industry at large.
We hold true to the same ideals here at WROC. We are purveyors of great outdoor gear, service, and knowledge for the outdoor enthusiast. I guess you could call us “enablers”… while that usually holds a negative connotation, we beg to differ. We enable folks to get out and enjoy the great outdoors on their terms with the right equipment, the right information, and the right value. That makes our partnership with Mathews a no-brainer.
Building on the last 25 years of design and innovation, there has never been a better group of bows in the Mathews Line-up. Capitalizing on the success of last year’s Halon model, Mathews’ new flagship Halon 32 incorporates all of the refinements of the Halon into a slightly longer axle-to-axle package. For the shooter, this means an enhanced string angle at full draw and improved stability. Combine that with their Cross-Centric cam technology, true center knocking point, and Advanced Vectoring System (designed to maintain cam synchronization, enhance energy storage, and increase efficiency) and you have one of the smoothest, most accurate, and powerful bows on the market today.
Don’t worry; if you don’t want the additional ATA length, the original Halon with all the goodies is still in the mix. Similar to the new Halon 32, it comes in three different brace heights: 5”, 6”, or 7”. It is also available with a variety of color schemes for those of you who absolutely must color-coordinate your outfits… Of course there is standard black, which (if you ask my wife) is slimming goes with anything. Stone is a slate grayish tone that looks really sharp but is not overly flashy. Then you have co-branded options from Lost Camo, Sitka, and Under Armour to perfectly match your existing camo pattern.
Also new for 2017 is the Mathews Avail. There are more female bow hunters than ever before and Mathews saw this trend and designed the new Avail to provide lady archers a top-notch platform to chase their quarry. Utilizing the same technological breakthroughs as the Halon and Halon 32, the Avail was engineered to similar specs in a package designed for women. A wider range of draw lengths and draw weights will ensure that the Avail will suit women of nearly any strength or stature.
A couple more field-proven carryovers from last year are still in the mix as well. The No Cam HTX and the Z3. Both bows are spec’d at the 30” ATA length and are available in a variety of draw weights.
The No Cam HTX utilizes Mathews’ revolutionary NO CAM ST technology introduced in 2015. The No-Cam system is somewhat reminiscent of the old-school wheels used on early compounds, at least in looks… rest assured that the No Cam is anything but the latest new technology. The wheels on each axle rotate in conjunction with one another, without traditional camming action. Rather, the string rides in a single track on the each wheel, keeping perfect alignment between the two, eliminating the timing issues associated with other cam systems. This also helps to mitigate knock travel and keep the arrow straight and true as it leaves the string at the end of the power stroke. The result is a beautifully tunable bow with a ridiculously smooth draw.
The Z3 is a tried and true performer and packs in a pile of features while not emptying your wallet. Based on the well-established Solo Cam design perfected by Mathews’, the Z3 features a quick 330fps IBO rating and a more forgiving 7” brace height. As indicated earlier, it has an ATA of 30” and parallel composite slim limbs, making it a compact and easily wieldable tool for tight spaces. Colors available are Black and Lost Camo XD. All this comes together to make a great bow at a fantastic value.
We can’t forget the big boys. The Monster Wake and Monster Safari are the baddest bows on the block. If you need bone busting performance for larger game, these bows are for you. Featuring draw weights up to 85lbs, you won’t find a faster, harder hitting bow anywhere.
The Mathews line doesn’t end there. While most of us are using our “sticks and strings” to put meat in the freezer, there are a multitude of other bows available from Mathews for those who prefer to punch paper as well as a number crossover bows for hunting/3d/target applications. In the crossover category, there is the Chill-X and Halon-X, each more than capable of putting down a rutted-up bull or poking holes in the scoring ring. Looking for a precision tool for target shooting? The Halon-X Comp, TRX 7/8, or the Conquest will be right up your alley. These longer ATA bows feature the same new Cross-Centric cam system of the new Flagship bows, but provide a longer brace height and better string angle perfect for the range.
Bottom line is that Mathews makes badass bows, and we at WROC are proud to be the newest Mathews Dealer in the area. We want to be your dealer. We understand that September is a sacred time, when you can get back in the woods and prairies and do what gives you the feeling that little else can. We know your commitment, your passion, your hunger. We feel it too.
