UPDATE: As of 1:25 p.m., power had been restored north of town. LVE confirmed that “a vehicle hit a fault,” causing damage to LVE equipment, leading to the outages.

UPDATE: As of 10:15 a.m., power in Wilson appears to have been restored.

JACKSON, Wyo. — Some valley residents might have woken up to missed alarms and dim households this morning, as power outages affected parts of Wilson and Jackson.

Lower Valley Energy’s outage website noted that a total of 863 customers were affected by power outages on the morning of Tuesday, May 21, with one service outage located in Wilson and a second located north of Jackson. The Wilson outage was detected at 7:42 a.m. and affected more than 500 customers this morning. The second outage was detected at 9:23 a.m., and crews were en route to address it as of 9:50 a.m.

Lower Valley Energy’s Communications Manager Brian Tanabe told Buckrail that crews were addressing the outages.

“Our equipment was damaged,” Tanabe said at 9:45 a.m. “We are investigating how this happened. We hope to have power restored within half an hour.”
