JACKSON, Wyo. — On Tuesday, Nov. 16, local nonprofit On River Time (ORT) unveiled a new life-sized bronze sculpture commissioned to highlight the healing that can happen through fly fishing on the Snake River.
According to an ORT press release, the statue is six feet and was done by western artist Dustin Payne. It will be unveiled at Mountain Trails Gallery in Jackson Hole on Nov. 16 at 2 p.m., after which it will be relocated to its permanent home at The Lodge at Palisades Creek in Irwin, Idaho.
ORT offers fly fishing camps to children of abuse and neglect living in group children’s homes. Based at The Lodge, the programs take visits to Jackson Hole and Grand Teton National Park.
“Our aim is to help them see they are not defined by their past, but have hope for a brighter future,” ORT writes in their press release.
